What a great day!
Thank you to all those participants and staff who took part in our sold-out, inaugural Putting Competition and Barbecue on Wednesday, August 5th.
The weather stayed beautiful throughout this action-packed afternoon of putting excellence! The scores remained tight throughout the event, with Richard Young, Winston Bell, David Moonie and Leo O’Hara all tied for the lead on 11 putts (scoring exactly the same on each hole). The deadlock was finally broken by Kavith Ranchagoda, who was competing alongside his father, Chand. Kavith holed out in one on the 5th for a final score of 11 which was just enough to win the competition on countback.
Diane Skinner, the final competitor of the day, was the only player who managed to hole out in one on the monster 6th. Diane’s 30ft, downhill, right-to-left putt brought cheers from the watching gallery and staff. Next year we will have a separate prize on the 6th, in honour of Diane’s achievement. The staff competition was tied between Silver Lakes General Manager Todd Sloane and Pro Shop Assistant Cameron Mitchell, both scoring a respectable 13.
Congratulations to Kavith, Richard, Winston, David and Leo for ensuring the competition went right to the wire. Silver Lakes employee Shawna Perrault presented Kavith with his prize of a Foursome at Silver Lakes.
Our Putting Competition and Barbecue proved to be a great success, with the competition being played in a real spirit of friendly rivalry. Photos from the day, including the leaders, winner and Diane, can be viewed in our photo gallery. Eventually, all of the photos will be posted on our website at www.silverlakesgolf.com
We look forward to hosting an even bigger and better event in 2021!
